Drylining

Drylining is the application of installing plasterboard to timber, metal or masonry walls and ceilings to create a uniform and flat surface. There are a few methods to achieve this and that is through the use of correct fixings otherwise know as 'tacking' or drywall adhesive to stick the boards to blockwork this is otherwise known as dot and dab. The finished result will be ready for skimming.

Skimming

The final coat or top coat of plaster is probably the most important as it is the final coat that will be seen, this coat of plaster is often referred to as a skim coat and is usually around 3mm thick. This can be applied directly onto plasterboard without the need for a backing coat or over old walls and ceilings with the right preparation.

Float & Set

The term float and set refers to the traditional style of plastering sometimes known as wet plastering. the system requires a wet undercoat plaster such as sand and cement, browning/bonding or hardwall coat which is troweled onto the walls usually around 11mm thick. It is generally more messy but the advantages to it are that it gives much greater sound density than boards and it is an excellent insulator also.

Rendering

Rendering is the process of applying a mixture of sand, cement, water and/or lime to external, or sometimes internal, walls to achieve a smooth or textured surface. Render has waterproofing and fire rating qualities, but is also used for aesthetic purposes. It can also be used to prevent and stop further damage to a wall which may be crumbling and deteriorating. It can come in a variety of finishes with various textures and different colours.

Coving & Cornice

Coving & cornice is perfect for adding interest to the tops of walls, giving them a stylish and elegant finishing touch to really set off a room. It also avoids the décor looking unfinished and as if there is something missing in the detail of the room.
